I want to do automotive photography.

The reason I chose automotive photography is because I am very passionate about cars and you can do so much in terms of photography with cars. You can experiment with different angles, focal points, light painting, panning, etc. I feel that a inanimate object as a subject is better than a human because you can take as long as you want to practice and improve your skills. From there you can apply the skills you learned practicing on cars and use them to practice on other things

2. Explain what kind of planning and research the photographer had to ask to get the photos they took?

He had to get permissions for the USBP and he took the risk of getting injured or killed while "on the job". I highly doubt he was able to get that close and "personal" with the situation without special permissions.

3. Under the section on "Planning," what does the writer suggest doing to capture emotional images?

Adding a story through your photography can have a major impact on the "reader" or in the case of photoraphy, the viewer. Telling a story can emphasize the emotion and feelings of the viewer.

4. Under the section on "Composition," what does the writer suggest doing to help you "pick a face out of the crowd?"

You pick something that is standing out of the crowd. An example would be shooting a black car in a crowd of 99 white cars.

5. What is a photo essay?
A photo essay is a number of images that are placed in a specific order to tell the progression of events, emotions, and concepts. For example, if I take a picture of a tree from when it is just starting as a sapling to when it starts to dry out and die once it gets old. Same goes for building or restoring a car, you take "progression" photos whenever you do something new to show how you went from a shell to a fully functional car.
6. Summarize the 5 tips the writer provides.

1) find a topic- something that has meaning to you

2) Do some research- research the material/subject/event that you will be shooting

3) Find the "real story"- don't be biased, shoot exactly what is going on

4) every dynamic story is built on a set of core values and emotions that touch the heart of its audience. - photos that have a strong meaning. they make a lasting impression on the viewer

5) Plan your shots- brainstorm what kinds of shots you will shoot. maybe even practice a few before the event

Provide the 5 Ws and H for your event:

Who: A friend's private collection of cars.
What: The cars and his entire garage.
When: Friday night before he flies back out the next day (and before the day of prom)
Where: Austin, Tx. At an Undisclosable address/exact location.
Why (why will the event happen?): The owner will be flying back out, he was only in town for a few days to conduct business. He wanted to give me a glimpse of his collection and a preview of what to expect for his future Austin Based business.
How (how will the event happen?): He will invite me out, as well as a couple of business partners and friends and we will be given a tour of his garage and he will explain his business plans and get our feedback/suggestions.

The exposure on this was wayy too low. I played with the exposure and the "fill light"/clarity until I got to where I wanted. I finished off by playing with saturation/vibrance to adjust the color a bit.

The color on this was off. I saved the shot by giving it an "old west" theme by adjusting the temperature/saturation/contrast.

i will take test photos and multiple trials of the same photo
