year in photos **Edited**

Urban, natural lighting, balanding elements, He got it from the right angle to highlight the man and the baby, he had to be in a warzone and risked his life to get this photo

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is a prime example of photojournalism. It could also classify as urban photography
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
The photographer used balancing elements to compose the photo. The fact that he's focused on the gentleman holding the dead baby and the background of other people shocked from the attack makes the photo.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? The light is natural light, however I assume there wasnt much light as the smoke may have been blocking it.
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? It wouldn't have looked good with a flash or any artificial light. The natural light makes me feel as if I was there.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He risked his life going to a foreign country at war. He must have had a high shutter speed to capture action like this without motion blur. He also may risk ptsd or something similar from seeing what he did.

nature, natural lighting, rule of thirdshe got it directly in front to enhance the photo, he had to get very close to the jelly fish and risked getting stung to get this photo

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is an example of nature photography
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
The photographer used rule of thirds to make the photo. The placement of the jelly is just right. Had it been more to the side either left or right, I wouldn't consider it "rule of thirds" and it just wouldnt look right.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? I feel like there was natural light in the photo given the circumstance, but on the other hand it looks like there was some artificial light aswell.
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? If he used one or the other type of lighting, I feel it would look a little bit dark. I'm just wondering why the light seems to be far back based on what i see towards the top of the photo.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He risked getting stung by a jellyfish to capture this photo. It seems as if it wasnt really taken in the ocean, so I dont see a risk of getting eaten by a shark etc but some jellyfish stings can be fatal in as little as an hour. I beleive he wore some sort of divers suit to prevent this, it would be dumb not to. Also I would think he had a waterproof housing for the camera.
urban, artificial lighting, viewpoint, he used the streetlights to his advantage. he had to get up high to get this photo

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is an example of photojournalism. It could also be urban photography
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
The photographer used the viewpoint rule to compose the photo. The fact that he's above the people makes the photo stronger. It shows the sheer number of people actually at this event. If he was in the crowd, there would be too much going on. I also like that I can see the city in the background, it makes the photo unique.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? The light is definately artificial as I see many street lights and I see the people holding their lights.
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? had there been no artificial light, the photo would be hideously dark. I also assume it would be blurry since he would need such a high shutter speed to capture some light. The people are moving so even if he had a high shutter speed, the photo wouldn't have turned out well.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He had to research the event. He also had to find some sort of platform to shoot from, he most likely had to do some asking to use either a building's balcony or some sort of private access to a paddock or something of that nature.
nature, natural lighting, balancing elemnts, he used whatever light he could through the sandstorm to portray the man moving through it. he had to combat the elements to get this photo

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is an example of nature photography
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
He used balancing elements to compose this photo. It is more focused on the Bedouin man and the palm tree, of less importance, is in the back. The palm tree is still very important in the photo however, It gives us a definite setting.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? The seems like it is natural light, however he may have needed some artificial light since the sandstorm may have compromised whatever natural light he may have had access to.
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? I couldn't say to be honest. I am really surprised that the photo looks that good. In my time in the middle east I've been through a fair share of sandstorms and even driving at slow speeds is a challenge. Its a very low light situation.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He had to go through the trouble of traveling to another country to capture the photo. He also had the burden of dealing with the intense desert heat, or based on how the man is dressed, the frigid desert temperatures (they usually dress in white during the summer, but this man is dressed in dark which makes me think its cold. on the other hand, there is seldom sandstorms in the cold in the desert; but thats me speaking from experience in jordan, this looks like maybe the UAE or Saudia.)
urban, natural lighting, rule of thirds, he used the sunlight to his advantage, though it seems theres a bit of shading in the photo. he had to get close to the action to get this photo

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is an example of photojournalism, without a doubt.
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
This looks like both experimenting and rule of thirds to me. I couldn't decide. I chose this photo because it was a powerful photo.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? The light is natural light, a sunny but not too sunny day gives the perfect natural lighting
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? The sun isnt directly on the people, it seems like its deflected maybe due to a few clouds or something but it makes the photo look very balanced. I noticed there's not too many shadows, if any then they're not so very defined.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He risked his life going to a foreign country, based on the photo, that may be at war. These look like the Liberian warlords I've seen documentaries of. Our family friend Mohammad Okonjo tells us stories of the situation going on in his country Liberia. I was able to relate those stories to this photo, although I cannot confirm that this country is indeed Liberia.

landscape, natural lighting, framing/leading lines. he used the light to enhance the lines. he got up high and at the right angle to get the photo.

1. Label the type of photography it is. Examples: Street (Urban), Photojournalism, Landscape, Cityscape, Black and White, Portraits, Food, etc.
This is an example of landscape photography. It is also a good example of framing. Also seems like balancing of elements due to the random man in the middle of those "leading lines".
2. Explain Rules of Composition present in photo and provide written evidence.
He used quite a bit. His focus may have been mainly landscape photography but he used many rules of composition whether he knew it or not. I know I shoot sometimes and don't realize that i'm using certain rules of composition.
3. Describe the lighting:
  • Light source or light sources? The light is natural light, without a doubt, assuming that this formation is natural. I mean look at it, its beautiful.
  • Natural/Artificial/Mix? How do you know? See above
  • How did photographer enhance photo through use of light? The natural light makes the photo perfect. A flash wouldn't have done much to change the photo. If it was night time, he would need a very strong flood light, something like 50,000 lumens or more. He could use a focused light and take multiple shots and stack them later.
4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image? He risked falling. He definitely needed to study some maps before going this deep in the wilderness. If it was a more recent photo, he could have used GPS to his advantage.

6d T3I

After you have read the difference between these two cameras answer the questions below:

1. What is the difference between a Full Frame Camera and a Crop Sensor?
Basically, with a full frame, you get the "full" image, and in tern, the picture looks better. With a crop sensor it is essentially the opposite.
2. What are five advantages of the 6D compared to a T3i?
low noise at high iso, better image quality, in camera hdr, better boost iso, shoots faster
3. What makes the autofocus of the Canon 5D Mark III better than that of the 6D?
61 focus points versus 41 in the 6d
